For this event we will be hosting Peter Phaal who is the original inventor and co-author of the sFlow standard. He will be doing Tech Talk on Performance Aware Software Defined Networking and also conducting hands-on lab using sFlow.
About Peter Phaal
Peter is the original inventor and co-author of the sFlow standard. He is also the President and Founder of InMon Corp., a leading provider of performance analysis software based on sFlow. Before InMon, Peter worked at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories where he created Hewlett-Packard’s Extended RMON technology. His book, LAN Traffic Management, describes the techniques of monitoring and managing traffic on local area networks. Peter has over 20 years experience in the field of network performance monitoring.
Introduction to sFlow standard, sFlow basics, how to configure sFlow on the Open vSwitch. Relationship between sFlow and OpenFlow and integration of sFlow performance analytics in SDN stack.Discussion of use cases, including: load balancing, DDoS mitigation and packet brokers.
Hands on lab using sFlow-RT and sFlow data captured from physical and virtual switches. For the lab we will be following examples from the following blog: http://blog.sflow.com/search/label/sFlow-RT. To participate in the lab, please install the following software on your laptop: sFlow-RT (http://www.inmon.com/products/sFlow-RT.php), Java 1.6+, cURL, and Python (with Requests library, http://docs.python-requests.org/en/latest/). To test your setup, try running examples in sFlow-RT extras/ directory.
For this event we will be hosting Srini Seetharaman from Deustche Telekom, Xin Huang from CYAN, Inc. & Sriram Natarajan from NTT Innovation Institute Inc. They will do Tech Talk on OpenFlow/SDN and follow it with a hands on tutorial for building applications using Ryu controller.

About Srini Seetharaman
Srini Seetharaman is the Technical Lead for Software-defined Networking (SDN) at Deutsche Telekom Innovation Laboratories. Previously he was a member of the OpenFlow/SDN team at Stanford, between 2008-2011, where he lead the SDN deployments in several nation-wide campus enterprise networks, including Stanford. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
About Xin Huang
Xin Huang is a Senior Research Scientist / Technologist at CYAN, a leading SDN company. Previously she was a Senior Research Scientist at Deutsche Telekom Innovation Laboratories. Xin has been working on Openflow/SDN since year 2009, and has designed, developed, and evaluated several Openflow-based SDN solutions. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
About Sriram Natarajan
Sriram Natarajan is a Senior Researcher at NTT Innovation Institute Inc. He researches on security issues within the SDN architecture and develops applications on-top of RYU controller. Perviously, he has built several network services using OpenFlow/SDN (flow conflict detection system, network visualization tool, and network security applications). He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst
